highlighted text color and highlighted text color 2 in the admin theme page both now use javascript. changes made can also be seen on the theme page and will only affect the color of the input field assuming it is in hex format.
Security was added to the admin theme page to prevent javascript injection. I am confident in it enough that I feel comfortable adding an admin theme console to the user control panel. I still want to work on the javascript for the admin theme page some more. There are still several ways to improve the javascript for it yet.
