"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

So the lesson here for the Christian is that it is better to give up a specific pleasure for the Kingdom of God. For example, is something keeping you from the Kingdom of God like spending too much time on some digital screen? Get rid of it for the better thing. Why give up the Kingdom of God for some earthly pleasure?
What is the Kingdom of God? The Kingdom of God is union with Christ. When you become a repentant believer you become a part of the Kingdom of God both now and in the next life. As such we must continually be transformed into a new creation by replacing the destructive with the perfect and Holy.
