I did not think this would be that hard, but with a bit of help from dynamic drive I was able to learn how to display spaces as is so that multiple chained spaces are not shortened down to one. The example code is in a new document of mine called PCRE examples.
I have also had to update the How to Display Code file again to reflect the clarified understanding of the term whitespace and that it includes space, but is not limited to just space.
