I am now using two monitors with my new 1060 graphics card. I did have a period of buyer's remorse because this is a significant upgrade and was a fair amount of money even though there were nice deals on the monitors and card. Despite the amount of research I did before purchasing these and consulting before buying everything there was still a good deal of risk involved. I won't be able to hook up the third monitor until tomorrow.
The following are my initial observations:
- The new monitors are of significantly lower quality than my Acer 27" monitor, but the quality of the new monitors is perfectly fine for me and probably most people. In particular my old Acer has had the brightness and color factor turned down to about half. It I didn't it would be painfully bright. The Samsung has been turned up to about 100% on most settings in order to look nearly the same as the Acer.
- The video card handles most everything including swtor with two monitors beautifully. I am eager to see what three monitors look like.
- There is a bit of a learning curve for how to best utilize two monitors, but I am beginning to see the benefits of having one monitor for reading and another for watching videos or one monitor for gaming and another for surfing the web.
- With two monitors the visual real estate for the eyes really adds a beautiful level of immersion that is hard to describe unless you are actually using it. The divider in the middle is somewhat annoying though. It should be quite different with three monitors.
If I were to continue to upgrade my computer I would get a monitor stand, a SDD, a new case with a clear side, and possibly a desk.TAGS: computer
