I forgot to mention that I dremmeled out the staples and carpet fibers in the tool room in the basement on Saturday. I'm pretty sure it was Saturday.
After work today I redid the soundproof paneling that I have in my room to be a tighter fit. I then leveled the stairs in the basement so that it is no longer crooked. I had the same issue at my previous place. The fix was similar, but not really more or less difficult; just different.
Regarding workday home improvement activities, I mostly need to work on cleaning up the basement in preparation to better insulate it. I expect that that will take a bit of work.
