I am currently in the process of creating a new layout for the News page. So far I have removed the header and the facts on same sex marriage in the US and merged the "misc news" and "Alternatives to foreign energy" into "Social Issues". The body of the page consists of a 3 column layout with two columns of news categories. I can add more if I need to, but I should wait till the need arises. The news items have been truncated and link to the full news item.
The only thing left to do for the body is to create titles for each news item. After that I need to create a header that contains "Headlines" and a footer of all of the News Tags.
I'm still trying to tweak things a bit.
