Earth 616
The primary universe. This is the largest and most important. The storylines are based on many decades of backstory.
Ultimate
This was not meant to be ongoing, but became quite popular. This imprint is more recent and is Marvel's research and development imprint where they try out radical new ideas. It is a re–imagining of the Marvel universe. The titles invariably begin with "Ultimate" in the name.
