Tooltips

kontera and the like is a type of browser spam that finds words in a document that you are reading online and adds popup ads also known as tooltips that display whenever you hover over the words.  This can get very annoying quickly even if it is not a virus.  To counter this settings ––> preferences ––> advanced ––> content blocked content ––> add here type in *.kontera.*

Note: A nice list and more on this topic as written by Tamil can be found here.  I prefer to block these on an as needed basis because blocking a large number of these will slow down Opera start up times.  I do believe that ads are also a legitimate way for businesses to generate income.  If the ads are overly annoying to the point where I am hesitant to visit the site then I know it is time to block the ads.  If they are not annoying then I will leave them be.

ad groups generated by javascript

Tip: When blocking ad groups that are hosted by third party software try looking for the script where the spam is coming from.

<script type="text/javascript">
var MarketGidDate = new Date();
document.write('<scr'+'ipt type="text/javascript" '
+'src="http://jsn.mgid.com/m/a/mangahere.com.9493.js?t='+MarketGidDate.getYear()+MarketGidDate.getMonth()+MarketGidDate.getDay()+MarketGidDate.getHours()
+ '" charset="utf-8" ></scr'+'ipt>');
</script>

In the above you will want to use *.mgid.* to block the ad block that is generated with the above script.
