Alaskan citizens vote against adding protections based on sexual orientation

By 58% the citizens of Alaska voted against adding a sexual discrimination law with an initiative known as prop.5. This is the third failed attempt to do so. Currently Alaska is one of 14 states without a non–discrimination law based on sexual orientation. A few of the others include: Wyoming, Idaho, Mississippi and Alabama. The supporters of the law outraised the opposition well over 3 to 1. The proposition included an exemption for churches and religious organizations. ref, ref
