Russia's gay propaganda law upheld in court the day after the first fines were issued

Today, 12/4/13 Russia's highest court ruled that the law banning gay propaganda was constitutionally valid because it applied to all citizens equally. They also said that the constitution obliges the state to protect motherhood, childhood, and the family. ref
Yesterday the first fines were issued to two men who were found guilty of promoting the gay lifestyle by wavingh banners in front of a children's library in Arkhangelsk. The two men were fined about $120 dollars or $4000 rubles each. ref
