Colorado court rules against Masterpiece Cakeshop

Posted: 12/6/13

The Colorado Administrative Law Court judge Robert N. Spencer ruled today, 12/06/13, that Masterpiece Cakeshop discriminated against a homosexual couple by not making a cake for them because they were homosexual.  The owners were then ordered to make the cakes that they refused to make before for a same sex wedding, which the owners will not do because it is against their religion.  The owners are being represented by Nicolle Martin of the Alliance Defending Freedom.  ref

The owners do not care about the sexual orientation of the buyers, but rather did not want to use their talents to support a same sex wedding which they believe to be immoral.  It does not matter to the owners what the sexual orientation of the buyers were. ref

From what I have read the judge seems to understand that conveying a message involves words and possibly pictures only.

The next step if he chooses to appeal is to appeal to the Civil Rights Commission directly after that is the Colorado court of appeals. mp3 ref
