Louisiana marriage amendment upheld

U.S. District Judge Martin C. Feldman, a federal judge ruled Wednesday, 9/3/14, that Louisiana's constitutional amendment does not violate the equal protection clause or the due process clause and that what plaintiffs were seeking was a new definition of marriage.

Louisiana is in the 5th Circuit along with Mississippi and Texas. The 5th circuit has no date set yet to hear same sex marriage cases from Texas, but it has said it will hear cases on the subject. It is believed that the court is waiting until the U.S Supreme Court rules on similar cases or decides not to hear these cases.
