Washington state Supreme Court rules against Barronelle Stutzman

Posted: 2/17/17

Washington state Supreme Court on 2/16/17, rules against florist, Barronelle Stutzman, who declined to make flower arrangements for a same-sex wedding and says she must pay for the court costs up to this time. It was determined by the court that Barronelle Stutzman engaged in sexual discrimination.

As applied in this case, the Washington Law Against Discrimination does not compel speech or association. And assuming that it substantially burdens Stutzman's religious free exercise, the Washington Law Against Discrimination does not violate her right to religious free exercise under either the First Amendment or article I, section 11 because it is a neutral, generally applicable law that serves our state government's compelling interest in eradicating discrimination in public accommodations.  -- Robert Ingersoll and curt Freed V. The odd thing is that the Colorado courts still rule against Christians when the roles are reversed and a Baker is asked to bake a cake with Bible verses on it ref

The lawyers said they plan to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
