6/17/19: The Supreme Court sends the case back to the lower courts and orders them to review the case again in light of the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission ruling on 6/4/18. ref
It is unclear at present which court will be rehearing this case next. In the Arlene's Flowers case the ruling took about a year before we heard anything, so it very well may be a year before we hear anything further in this case.
6/6/19: The Washington Supreme Court was ordered last year on 6/25/18 to rehear the case against Barronelle Stutzman by the U.S. Supreme Court in light of the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission ruling. On 6/6/19 the Washington State Supreme Court ruled that after having reviewed its ruling it has determined that there was no error in its judgment. ADF has said that it will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. A formal appeal will be sent to the U.S. Supreme Court in 3 - 4 months. The Supreme court could decide to hear the case as early as January 2020 with oral arguments in April of 2020 with a ruling around June of 2020, however, it could still be later than that. ref, audio interview with ADF after ruling.
This is particularly interesting in that we will get to see what happens when a state supreme court thumbs its nose at a U.S. Supreme Court order. This will be an opportunity for the U.S. Supreme Court to rule more broadly regarding states forcing individuals to violate their religious views.
6/5/19: Scardina files a litigation claim against Jack Phillips in what he calls text book LGBT discrimination. This is a third lawsuit against Jack Phillips and by the same person that filed the second litigation against Jack Phillips.
The case was previously dropped, 3/5/19, when Senior District Judge Wiley Y. Daniel for the District of Colorado ruled that the case could proceed and due to probable animus against Jack Phillips by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission ref. This litigation by Scardina is being filed separately as opposed to through Colorado Civil Rights Commission. ref
